Petrolians step up to provide Christmas for Everyone

December 7, 2017

Over 300 people will be receiving a little helping hand this Christmas.
That from Sandra Hartman of Christmas for Everyone. The group, which runs the Petrolia Food Bank, is busy taking names for Christmas food hampers and toys for those in need in the community.
Hartman says this year she’s seeing more people with disabilities and seniors living on a fixed income looking for help. But over all, there seem to be less people in need.
“Sarnia is down a bit, too,” she says adding it may be because the applications were sent out later this year.
Christmas for Everyone got its yearly boost from the community Tuesday. People crammed into the Petrolia Legion for the annual soup luncheon. Doug Clark of the Petrolia Rotary, which host the event, says this was one of the best crowds yet. Clark says more restaurants contributed soup this year, and there was less leftover than in previous years. Over $3,600 was collected for Christmas for Everyone and as a grocery cart of canned goods.
