Lambton OPP are crediting an alert driver for helping to avert what could have been a “major catastrophe.”
Around 10 Monday morning, a driver on the 402 near Watford called OPP saying there was a transport truck carrying propane driving erratically in the area.
The OPP found the Peterbuilt truck – which was caring 63,500 kilograms of propane – and saw the vehicle swerving.
The police stopped the truck and arrested the driver for impaired driving. The OPP say his breath sample read three times the legal limit.
The 38-year-old Woodstock man is facing charges of impaired driving, impaired over 80 milligrams and driving with open liquor.
Police say the tractor trailer and its load of propane were seized and will be out of service for seven days. Police also notified the trucking company and the owner of the propane about the incident
