Pinsonneault ‘disappointed’ Ford government reneges of promise of EA for Dresden dump

Safety village plans at Henderson fall through
June 23, 2018
A children’s safety village won’t locate in Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area after all.
“It’s very disappointing,” said Mary Ann Buntrock, who has spearheaded the project for the past 20 years. “People are really interested in it. It’s just difficult to find a home.”
In April, Buntrock announced at Lambton County Council the St. Clair Conservation Authority’s board approved the safety village location at the Petrolia conservation area.
Buntrock was very happy with the location because it would cut down on the cost of construction and fit in well with the authorities school programs there.
But two weeks later, the authority’s board met and discussions with the safety village fell apart, based on concerns there is not enough space for the safety village and the conservation area to operate separate education programs.
