Oil Springs natives Dale and Mark Hunter have won gold at the World Juniors.

Dale, Team Canada’s Head Coach, and Mark, the team’s general manager, are celebrating in the Czech Republic with the World Junior team after a come from behind win.

Akil Thomas scored with 3:58 left in the third period to cap a comeback securing the 4-3 victory. It’s Canada’s 18th title at the annual under-20 tournament.

Like people across the country, the Hunter family gathered to watch the nail-bitter in Oil Springs.

The Hunters are no stranger to championship hockey – they’ve won nine divisional titles and two Memorial Cups – the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s championship – as coach and GM of the London Knights.

Man charged after Wyoming car damaged

A Plympton-Wyoming man is facing charges after a car on Niagara Street was damaged. Police were called to a home on Niagara St just before 1 am Sunday after a vehicle was damaged. Police arrested a 26 year-old man from Plympton-Wyoming was arrested and charged with mischief and trespassing at night. He’ll be in court March 18.
