Lambton County Science Fair cancelled

March 19, 2020

FROM THE LAMBTON COUNTY SCIENCE FAIR

It is with regret that the Lambton County Science Fair Committee announce the 2020 fair, scheduled for April 3-4, is cancelled.

“We have tried to find innovative ways in which students could still present their projects for judging later in the year, but there comes a point at which you simply have to admit defeat” said Committee Co-Chair Stephanie Lobsinger. “Safety must come first and we support the decision to cancel all events at the College and the decision to cancel the 2020 Canada Wide Science Fair.”

This would have marked the 47th annual science fair since it became registered as a charity, but the fair has a much longer history going back at least as far as the 1950’s. Fair registrations and attendance have bloomed over the last few years and a bumper attendance was expected again at this year’s fair, which was to be held in the new College gymnasium where additional space was available.

June 20, 2025

Heather Wright/The Independent Plympton-Wyoming Deputy Mayor Netty McEwen says it doesn’t make sense to spend $20,000 to study a bridge that goes nowhere.
