‘I’ve been silent far too long,’ says Pinsonneault

A Day in the Life of CEEH in Petrolia
April 25, 2020
The Independent spent some time at CEEH as part of our Day in the Life series
It is nap time at 2 pm on the Complex Continuing Care Unit at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital in Petrolia and it is almost peaceful.
Five staff members stop for a few moments to talk about life during a pandemic. They’re all dressed in caps and masks – something new as they try to keep themselves and patients who wait at the CCC for a nursing home bed, safe.
The women are worried, about taking the virus home to their families. But, they are there, taking blood pressure and holding the hands to comfort.
It is quiet in emergency room, too. The usually full waiting room holds only one person. There are signs of COVID-19 here, too.
Personal protective equipment hangs at the ready, there are bins to recycle precious N95 masks and the census board shows only half the patients are coming through the ER. But by 2:30 pm, staff smile and say there have been no COVID-19 cases today.
