Seasonal campers will be allowed day use of conservation areas

May 15, 2020

Seasonal campers at Lorne C. Henderson, Warwick or AW Campbell Conservation areas will be able to spend some time at the trailer, but they won’t be able to stay overnight.

The province has given the okay for seasonal campgrounds to open again but only for people with year long contracts. Officials from the St. Clair Conservation Authority say seasonal campers will be granted access with their vehicles to check on their sites and maintain their trailers beginning on Tuesday between 8 am and 4 pm, daily. But vehicles must exit the park by 4 pm.

Overnight stays are not permitted, say officials in a news release Friday.

“The SCRCA understands the frustration and disappointment our visitors may have with this decision, but the health and safety of our communities and staff are of paramount importance. The official opening of the camping season will be determined based on the guidance of health officials,” official say.

Recreational camping will not be permitted until further notice.
