Another resident of a Sarnia nursing home dies of COVID-19
May 17, 2020
COVID-19 has claimed another at Vision Nursing Home.
The Sarnia nursing home became the third long term care home in Lambton to deal with the respiratory virus on April 23. The home called in help from Bluewater Health, including Vision employees who had opted to work at the hospital during the pandemic. Officials say all of the cases – 13 in residents and now eight in staff members – can be linked to one wing of one unit which has been sealed off from the rest of the home.
Some of the health care workers are living on site to help contain the spread of the virus.
Lambton Public Health reported Sunday that five more people have tested positive in the county including three staff at Vision Nursing Home. One resident, whom CEO Heather Martin had said Friday was being closely monitored, has died.
Outbreaks continue at two other long term care homes in Lambton – one Marshall Gowland Manor resident has tested positive for COVID-19 Friday and two residents at Village on the St. Clair also tested positive for the virus on the same day.
In all, 222 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Lambton, 163 have recovered and 19 people have died.
