Family health team attracts new doctor

The Central Lambton Family Health Team has recruited another doctor.

Dr. Alex Leonard, who was a rural medicine resident in Petrolia and has been working in the Emergency Department at Bluewater Health Sarnia, is joining the family health team.

“After how much I enjoyed my two years of residency here, I couldn’t imagine opening a practice anywhere else,” he said in a news release Monday.

Leonard begins his practice Aug. 1 and will be accepting patients. He’s the fifth new doctor to come to Petrolia in the last five years.

Oil Springs OKs ball diamond fix

Petrolia resident scammed of $10K by ‘Bell technician’

A Petrolia resident lost $10,000 after a caller said they were a Bell technician issuing a refund. Lambton OPP say the incident took place Monday. The resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be a Bell technician. The caller said they were eligible for a refund and requested remote access to the persons computer to process the payment.

OPP increases patrols on 402 as congestion leading into US continues

The Independent Lambton OPP are stepping up patrols on Highway 402 near the Bluewater Bridge. For months, transports have lined the westbound lanes leading into the US, clogging traffic.
