Retirement, training deadlines leave Oil Springs without fire chief on July 1

As Petrolia councillors prepare to talk about a mandatory mask bylaw, we ask; are you in favour?
August 6, 2020
Petrolia councillors will take up the issue of mandatory masks to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The town has completed a survey online to see what people think. The Independent went out on the street to ask Petrolians if they’re in support of the idea.
George Hammond says a mandatory mask bylaw is a good idea “to help seniors who are more susceptible. I see too many people without them, especially at the grocery store.”

“I think it’s definitely something that should be brought into play. It can help control another wave.” – Kate Hammond

“I’m against it, unless it’s the N95 mask they don’t really work anyway. I think this is really all to make money off of tickets.” – Don Lester

“I’m for it. It’s not a big deal and could really help people out. So why not?” – Doug Stinchcombe
