Lambton’s COVID-19 cases continue to rise

December 24, 2020

Lambton public health reports another 12 people have tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday.

It continues a rapid increase of people fighting the virus in December.

Statistics from public health show there are now 98 people ill with COVID-19 while eight people recovered. There are two people at Bluewater Health in Sarnia with COVID-19.

There are now a total of 577 people who have contracted the virus in Lambton, 147 or 25 per cent of the cases have come in December.

As people prepare for the Christmas celebrations, public health officials are urging them to avoid gathering with their extended family in person to stop the spread of COVID-19. In Lambton, officials say much of the spread has been at gathering like meat raffles, dart leagues, and workplace social gatherings.

And while people prepare for a quieter holiday, businesses prepare for another 28 day lockdown. The province is shutting down much of the province starting Boxing Day to try to get a grip on the growing number of COVID-19 cases across Ontario.
