Lambton tops 1,500 cases of COVID-19

Lambton reached a milestone in the ten-month pandemic – the community has registered over 1,500 cases since March. It took until Dec. 18 to reach the first 500 COVID-19 positive tests, the last 1,000 have come in 28 days.
Lambton Public Health reports 216 people are ill right now with the virus – 13 less than yesterday. Thirty seven people have also recovered.
The province released the numbers this morning as part of its regular public health data update. There were 2,996 people who tested positive for the virus across the province according to Health Minister Christine Elliott. One hundred people died including two seniors from long term care homes who passed away at Bluewater Health.
Twenty-three of the deaths are residents from long term care homes. Forty per cent of the province’s nursing and retirement homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.
