Another 4,400 shots in arms in Lambton
March 24, 2021
After months of waiting, the number of Lambton residents getting their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is rising rapidly.
Over the last week, Lambton Public Health and family doctors administered over 4,400 doses of the vaccine in the region. Officials say 16,454 immunizations have been given and 1,544 people have had both shots – most are in long term care.
The news comes along with word of another outbreak in a retirement village. Rosewood Retirement Village on Indian Road in Sarnia is reporting a resident with COVID-19 so public health has declared an outbreak. It’s the first resident COVID-19 case since people living in long term care and retirement homes were offered the vaccine.
There were eight new cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday, with 209 people actively ill.
Meantime, Brooke Central students will be heading back to the classroom Thursday. They were learning from home for the last two weeks after public health declared an outbreak there.
