Flyers earn a point in Aylmer

Evan Morningstar’s goal in the waning seconds earned the Petrolia Flyers a 4-4 overtime tie with the Spitfires in Aylmer on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers came back from three, one-goal deficits to earn the point. Noah Harse, Kyle Flamminio and Joey Hayter also scored for the Flyers. Maddox Nazwaski made 22 saves in the Petrolia goal.

On Saturday, the hometown Port Stanley Sailors scored four times with the man advantage in a 4-3 win over the Flyers. Dylan Campbell, Daniel Gibson and Flamminio scored for Petrolia. Elijah Grant made 44 saves in taking the loss.

The Flyers hit the halfway point of the 40-game regular season with a home game against Lucan at 7:30. Petrolia is at Thamesford on Friday.

The Flyers are 4-12-3 and in eighth place in the PJHL’s Yeck Division, three points back of Lucan.
