LCCVI’s James Grant is heading for the provincial high school cross country in Etobicoke on

Nov. 4.  He won the junior boys event at SWOSSA this week by a 37-second margin over his closest competitor from Cardinal Carter in Leamington.  His time of 16 minutes even was 13 seconds faster than his time in winning LKSSAA last week in Chatham.

Meantime, Wyatt Ferguson of North Lambton is also heading to OFSSA after finishing third in the novice boys’ race this week.  He won the Lambton Kent title last week.

Water plant pushes St. Clair capital budget to $70M

Corunna senior loses $8,500 in grandparent scam OPP

January 3, 2025

The Independent Lambton OPP are once again warning seniors to be careful of callers claiming to be grandchildren in trouble. In early December, police heard from a Corunna resident who lost $8,500 to scammers. The victim told police they’d received a call from someone they thought was their grandchild. They had talked to the grandchild’s lawyer and arrangements were made.

Fewer impaired charges, fewer RIDE checks this Christmas

January 3, 2025

Lambton OPP conducted about half the RIDE Checks over the 2024 Christmas season as they did in 2023. The OPP released RIDE statistics from across Western Ontario Friday. In all, OPP officers conducted 1,938 checks in 13 detachments laying 292 impaired driving charges and issuing 19 warnings. That’s down from 2023, when there were 2,446 checks and over 350 impaired

Urn found in the St. Clair River in Mooretown

Lambton OPP hopes to find the owner of an urn. OPP received a call New Years’ Day about an urn recovered from the St. Clair River, near St. Clair Parkway, south of Moore Line. The urn is made of metal and is blue and silver in colour. The OPP is hoping to get the urn back to its rightful owner.
