Petrolia kids to craft Mosaic mural to celebrate 150th

April 12, 2024

The Independent

Petrolia’s 150 committee is hoping kids will help paint the town for the big anniversary.

A Mosaic Mural is being created by children and teens up to 18. The town, the Lambton Central Petrolia Optimists Club and The Artz Den are working together on the project which will see the people participating paint a 3.5 inch square of wood depicting something they love about the town.

“It could be a place, a park, an event, or a sports memory. All creative ideas are welcome,” said Deb Kohoutek of the Optimists.

The squares, which can be created at The Artz Den every Saturday between 1 and 4 pm until September, will be put together, glazed and then hung on the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia rehearsal hall near Victoria Hall.

“We can’t wait to see what our young people come up with,” added Denise Thibeault who heads up the Petrolia 150 committee.
