Drugs, guns, cash seized in $500K OPP raid

Lambton OPP have seized a half million dollars of drugs, weapons and cash in a raid on Walpole Island.

OPP are just now telling us about a raid Oct. 18 on Union Hall Road at the First Nation. Lambton OPP, Community Street Crime Units from Lambton and Elgin-Middlesex, the Tactical, Emergency Response Team, Canine and Forensic’s Identification Units went to the home and found a large quanity of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. Police also found firearms and cash. Police say the items were worth over $500,000.

Emmerson Sands, 33, Walter Sands, 29, Donald Peters, 58, and Megan Shipman, 25, all from Walpole Island First Nation face four drug and weapons charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Emerson Sands is also faces three charges of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with a probation order.

Peters also faces a possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

All four have been held in custody.
