Bailey expects 2025 to bring completed detox centre
OPP warn drivers to expect the unexpected this winter
December 2, 2024
With the giant snowstorm in cottage country top of mind, the OPP is issuing its annual warning to be prepared for anything when you head out on the roads this winter.
OPP say drivers should expect and prepare for the unexpected.
Police suggest:
- Consider delaying your trip until the weather improves. Snowplow operators need time to clear the roads.
- Be sure to check the current and forecast weather and road conditions.
- Visit the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) web site for road conditions at: www.511on.ca or Municipal 511 at https://www.municipal511.ca/.
- Fill up your gas tank before hitting the road. If you encounter a lengthy traffic delay, you’ll need your vehicle’s heater to stay warm.
- Be sure to dress for winter. You’ll be protected if you become stranded.
- Carry a winter driving survival kit in your vehicle including a shovel, blanket, warm clothes, food, booster cables, flashlight, high energy foods, matches and a candle.
