Students from Queen Elizabeth II School formed a convoy of caring in Petrolia this morning.

The school has been gathering food for the Petrolia Community Refrigerator and Friday morning, they formed a convoy of sorts, towing 25 wagons of food from the school down Petrolia Line to the St. Paul’s United Church where the Community Refrigerator is located.

Students then gathered up all the food from the wagons and brought it indoors for volunteers to sort and use for the next few months.

“It wasn’t easy to get enough wagons,” said Laurel Mailloux. “They’re all overflowing.”

One family used all of their grocery store points to purchase four wagons of food for the drive,” she added.

This is the third year the school contributed to the Petrolia Community Refrigerator. Last year, the students collected 15 wagons full.
