Bailey defends early election call
Transport catches fire on 402 near bridge

A fire on Highway 402 near the Bluewater Bridge slowed traffic for a little while.
Point Edward Fire and Rescue was called to a transport truck fire around 2:30 pm Tuesday.
The truck was in flame when firefighters arrrived. They were able to contain the fire in the cab of the vehicle and prevented the trailer from being engulfed.
Both east and westbound lanes were closed for a time, but traffic is now moving normally.
No one was injured in the fire.

Chartand stops 65 in win over Essex

John Chartrand was chosen the first star in Mooretown’s 2-1 win over Essex on Saturday at the Moore Sports Complex.
