The Petrolia Flyers can make franchise history Thursday when the team hosts the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League action at the Greenwood Recreation Centre.

Petrolia equalled the franchise record for wins in a single season with a 9-2 home ice win over the Aylmer Spitfires Saturday. This seasons 26 victories ties wins by the Flyers in 2002-03 when the team was in Alvinston.

Saturday, 13 players registered a least a point in the second largest offensive output of the season only behind the 10 goals scored against Lucan in early November.

Cam Davidson had his first career PJHL hat trick in the victory while Caleb Kennedy, Austin Harper and Ryan Richardson each had two goals. Owen Peters and Tobias Iantorno led the winners with five and four assists respectively. Peters is now just two points behind the top 20 in league scoring with 58 points in 38 games.

Jackson Dobbin, the son of Petrolia’s Brian Dobbin, had his 11th of the campaign for the Spits.

Elijah Grant made 29 saves for his 14th win of the season.

Lambton Jr. Sting grad Callum Besley took the loss for the Spits with 35 stops.

Petrolia has now six straight games and with a record of 26-10-3 is five points up on Exeter for the Yeck Division lead in the standings.
