Fraud pilot project in Lambton saves $160,000 in six months

SIU investigating after weapon’s incident on Walpole Island

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a incident on Walpole Island.
Sunday, Lambton OPP and Walpole Island Police and the Chatham-Kent Police Service were called to Chiefs Road for a weapons complaint just before 9 am. The OPP closed the road between Altiman and Shipman Lane and told residents to stay in their homes as a precaution.
The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit were engaged to assist with the investigation.
The OPP say “an interaction occurred” between the police and people being investigated. Police say no injuries were reported.
The OPP has notified the SIU, which has invoked its mandate to investigate.
The SIU was not immediately available for comment.
