Swimmers will have a little extra peace of mind heading into the waters of Lambton County; Lambton Public Health will be monitoring five major beaches five days a week.
Public health has been monitoring water quality for years; this year the program starts Monday. Officials say predictive beach model monitoring will be used at both the North and South Beaches in Grand Bend, Ipperwash’s Main Beach, Bright’s Groves beaches and Canatara Park. The predictive model monitoring will give the public information sooner including access to it by texting the word Beach to 226-909-3003 or visiting Lambton Public Health’s website.
Pinery Park and Highland Glen will be tested weekly.
No beaches along the St. Clair River are monitored but signs are posted along the river advising of high bacteria after a heavy rain.
