Oil Springs will have a new street.
Oil Springs council approved the naming of a registered right of way off of Oil Heritage Road to be Blue Bird Lane at its July 8 meeting.
The right of way was created when four lots were severed off of the original property. The owner of the lots now wants to wants to build on the second lot and the County of Lambton will not allow them to have an entrance off of Oil Heritage Road.
The owners of the property behind the four lots have requested the roadway be named Bluebird Lane.
Oil Springs Public Works Superintendent Chris DenBoer met with the owners of the lot as the road entrance needs to be built and maintained by them until their development is complete. The village will then assume responsibility for that road.
