The Sarnia Sting and London Knights were back on the ice on Monday to begin their training camps for their respective OHL seasons. London’s summer was less than two months long having just hoisted the Memorial Cup trophy on June 1.

Both teams will play their annual intra squad games Wednesday. The Knights drop the puck at 4 pm and the Sting plays its contest at 6pm at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The latter is a fundraiser for the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton.

Sarnia’s camp roster included fourth overall Brenner Lammers who signed with the team late last week and Carter Fogarty of the Sarnia Legionnaires. Fogarty was released from the Cape Breton camp of the QMJHL last weekend.  And, London’s camp roster includes veteran Evan Van Gorp of Watford and Corunna’s Brayden Hogan who played last season with the Mooretown Flags.

The Sting and Knights begin preseason action with a home-and-home series this weekend. London is the home team on Friday while the Sting entertains the Knights on Saturday. Both games begin at 7 pm.

Meantime, Petrolia’s Gage Brandon is back at the Flint Firebirds camp for a second season and Mateo Craievich is at the Niagara IceDogs camp. Brandon and Craievich played with the Sarnia Legionnaires and Petrolia Flyers last season respectively.
