A 19-year-old is facing charges of assault with a weapon after three convenience store clerks were egged.
Sarnia Police say on Jan. 22, two stores, one on Christina Street the other on Indian Road, were egged by a group of young women.
Police arrested and charged a 19 year-old and a youth with mischief.
Then, on Saturday, just after 9:30 pm, police were called to a convenience store on Cathcart Blvd. Police saw broken eggs inside and outside the store. Police were told a group of young women entered the store, became confrontational, insulted the clerk and then started throwing eggs, pickles and onions at the clerk, hitting her in the head.
The group left the store and got into a waiting blue SUV.
Police found the SUV in a Devine Street parking lot, about an hour later. While police were examining the SUV, the 19-year-old charged in the first two incidents called to turn herself in and met police in the parking lot.
Police arrested the Kathleen Street resident and held her for a bail hearing. She’s been charged with assault with a weapon, mischief, causing a disturbance and also faces two counts of mischief for the incidents on Jan. 22.
Two youths face the same charges.
Police are looking for others who might have been involved and figure out the motive for the eggings.
“Crime, regardless of any perceived severity, victimizes our residents, our local businesses, and our community. No one deserves to be assaulted while they are lawfully trying to work,” said Chief Derek Davis in a news release.
