Local players crack top four at U14 OHL Cup

A trio of Sarnia-Lambton players on the roster of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones, including Forest’s Drew Wilson, finished in the top four at the U14 OHL Cup over the weekend in Kingston.
Brock Manders of Bright’s Grove scored in the opening minute of overtime for the Cyclones in a 4-3 win over the top-seeded North York Rangers in the quarterfinals.
CK, ranked ninth going into the tournament, lost 2-0 in a close contest against the third-ranked Toronto Marlboros in semi-final action on Sunday.
Sarnia’s Xavier Bianchi was also part of the Cyclones squad.
Alvinston Killer Bees forward Jamie Schaafsma is an assistant coach with the Chatham-Kent squad.
Meantime, the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks, coached by Grand Bend’s Ryan Rupert, went 1-1-1 in the round robin and were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
