Man wanted in Dane Nisbet’s murder arrested

April 27, 2026

The Independent

The man wanted in the murder of Dane Nisbet has been arrested in London.

The 20-year-old Sarnia man was with two friends at the Lambton College pub – The Lion’s Den – April 10 when shots were fired around 1 am. Nisbet and his two teammates from the Mooretown Flags, were hit and Nisbet died of his injuries.

Police arrested one of the suspects in the shooting – Oudom “Richard” Bun – of London April 11, after searching two homes. Police charged Bun with one count of second degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

At the time, police identified Kyaw Chin Doe of London as the primary suspect in the shooting. A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest and Crime Stoppers offered its highest reward ever in a case – $50,000 – for information leading to his arrest. But, he remained at large.

Monday, April 27, Sarnia homicide investigators identified a home in London where Doe was believed to be hiding. London Police Service and its Emergency Response Unit contained the home “with Doe eventually surrendering to the police,” according to a news release.

Officials said Doe was turned over to Sarnia Police and is now being held on bail for charges of second degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Police believe they seized the gun used in the murder April 12 at a local hotel. At that time, two Sarnia residents were also charged with weapons offences. Ava-Leigh Lightheart, 19, is facing charges of accessory after the fact to murder and obstructing police as well as seven firearms charges. Johnathan Osborne-Walsh, 19, of Sarnia faces 12 charges including accessory after the fact to murder.

Sarnia Police will hold a news conference Tuesday at 1 pm to answer questions about the arrest of the final suspect.
