LCCVI’s Chapman runaway winner in hurdles event at high school track meet

Kole Chapman won the senior boys’ 110-metre hurdles race at a high school track and field event at St. Patrick’s this week.  The LCCVI sprinter broke the tape in 14.82 seconds, nearly three seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.

Meantime, Arie Roelands of North Lambton and Mooretown’s Camryn Leitch won field events. Roelands captured the novice boys high jump with a leap of 1.70 metres and Leitch topped the podium in the junior girls discus event with a throw of 27.51 metres.

Chapman was second in the senior boys 200-metre race while Xander Knapp, Kailee Elliott and Megan Munro were all second in their respective hurdle events for the Lancers.

North Lambton’s Skyla Willemse and Ellyot Schoonjans were second and third in the novice girls 1500 race and Berkley Joy of LCCVI was fifth.  Arlee Roder of North Lambton was second in the novice girls 1500-metre race and Camlachie’s Keala Pickard was second in the senior girls 1500-metre competition.

In other field events, LCCVI teammates Colin Tweedy and Calvin Van Stempvoort were second and third in the novice boys high jump while Petrolia’s Rachel Burns of St. Patrick’s and LCCVI’s Jalen Helps were both third in the senior and novice girls discus events respectively.

Liam Hackett, Rayah Minten, Keira Anjema and Remi Gorry all registered top five finishes as well for LCCVI.

The Lancer Prep competition at the University of Windsor is scheduled for Saturday, May 2.

The next local meet is set for Tuesday, May 5 at Great Lakes in Sarnia.

Legionnaires sign two, Flags three for upcoming seasons
