Four departments respond to Petrolia Line house fire

Field seeks mayor’s chair in Petrolia election
May 1, 2026
The Independent
May 1 marks the first day would-be municipal politicians can file their nomination papers to become candidates.
In Petrolia, three people have already filed their papers.
Joel Field gave notice of his intention to run for mayor of Petrolia. Field is a long-time councillor and the current deputy mayor.
Incumbent Bill Clark will seek a second term on council in the Oct. 26 election and newcomer Miranda Cole has also filed her nomination papers.
And in another interesting Lambton race, Sarnia City/County councillors Chrissy McRoberts and Bill Dennis have both filed their papers to seek the mayor’s chair in their communities. Dennis signalled his run for the mayor’s seat in 2023 – just one year after being elected for his second term of council.
Municipalities across Lambton have extensive information about the 2026 Municipal Elections on their websites, including how to get on the voters’ list.
