Lambton expands its Library by Mail service

People who can’t get to their local library can have the library come to them.
The Lambton County Library have been offering some patrons a Library by Mail service since 2024. Now, all library card holders with an accessible membership. It allows people to borrow books in regular print, large print, multilingual and English as a Second Language as well as audiobooks, DVCs and Magazines delivered to the cardholder’s mailbox.
The material is shipped through Canada Post with a prepaid, pre-addressed return envelope included in each package.
“Lambton County Library has piloted this Library by Mail Service to nine patrons over the last two years,” said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. “Now that we have had a little more experience with the logistics related to operating this service, we are pleased to be able to publicly launch the service and to continue our work removing any barriers to people accessing library service in Lambton County.”
To use the service, you must register for an accessible library membership which is for patrons who cannot access a physical library due to a disability, medical condition, or a lack of transportation.
Once registered, items can be reserved through the library’s online catalogue, its mobile app,
or by phone.
