Plympton-Wyoming has ‘natural’ tourism advantages says TSL head

Plympton-Wyoming has some “natural” tourism advantages.

That’s according to Adam Veen, the interim executive director of Tourism Sarnia-Lambton. He spoke to Plympton-Wyoming council April 29.

“The Lake Huron access is one of the biggest assets that you have, I think. It’s an untapped asset,” he said adding TSL could “really showcase the best of that.”

Veen says there are rural landscapes, agricultural advantages and 60 kilometres of trails in the community which would be attractive to cyclists and people using E-bikes to travel.

He added the municipality is perfectly placed geographically.

“The proximity to the other tourism markets in our county, I think, is really one of your strong advantageous points.

“You have a key corridor between Grand Bend and Sarnia. You are the middle municipality… there’s such an opportunity to catch those travelers and pull them in off of that main road and bring them into Plympton-Wyoming with something new, a new experience or something that they can take home with them.”

Veen calls it an untapped market for the community.

“Outdoor recreation is a key expansion area to the north of your municipality, the agritourism as you start to head south, of the culinary opportunities within the Town of Wyoming, your rural accommodations in the surrounding areas.”

Veen encouraged councillors to keep their ears open for business people who are interested in expanding.

“If you’ve ever heard or seen rumblings of anybody that has an idea of wanting to build or change or expand…this is where the connection starts..encouraging things like farm markets, the beach, the farm elements, food and beverage opportunities, cycling and walking tours, some routes and obviously glamping and farm stays.

“Be advocates for those elements. Connect them with us. We can help develop those businesses,” says Veen.
