LCCVI’s Jaylen Helps was named the Novice Girls Individual Champion at the Lambton-Kent Track and Field Championships.

Helps’ wins in the Novice discus and Javelin and second place in shot put helped the Lancers secure the ‘AA’ title for the 10th consecutive time.

LCCVI had a number of big wins; Rayah Minten broke the record of 11:33m set by Emma Negri in 2023 in the Novice Girls Shot Put with a throw of 11.55m. The record-breaking throw also helped the Novice Lancer girls sweep the throwing events.

Minten also placed fourth in the Novice Girls Long Jump with a best jump of 4.63m. And she was on the Novice Girls 4×100 relay team including Julia Gardner, Riley Jackson and Drew Brookswhich won gold with a time of 59.50.

The hurdlers also claimed top spots at the LK final; Kole Chapman won both the 110m and 400m senior events. He also placed second in the 400m run.

Xander Knapp won the Junior Boys 300m hurdles with a time of 43.92. He also place third in long jump in his division with a leap of 5.61m.

And Meagan Munro topped the field in the 400m Senior Girls hurdles, second in the 100m hurdles and came in second in the 400m senior run with a time of 1:02.17.

Khloe Baron placed second in the 300m Novice hurdles with a time of 52.04. She also finished fourth in the 80m hurdles with a time of 13.80.

In other results;

Kallee Elliott won gold in the Novice Girls High Jump with a leap of 1.50m and was third in the 80m hurdles with a time of 13.70.

Spencer Horwood took gold in the Senior Boys shot put with a throw of 13.56m.

And Zoe Elliott was second in the 100m in the Senior division with a time of 13.40 and third in the 200m behind Lily Odolphy of Northern and Taylor Ysebaert of St. Pat’s.

LCCVI’s James Grant was in the top three of all the Senior distance running events with St. Pat’s Chase Capes and Northern’s Alex Fortney. Grant placed second in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m

Here were also impressive finishes in the relays; the Novice Girls team of Khloe Baron, Falyn Hyatt, Emily Cools and Kallee Elliott placed second in the 4x100m relay, just one tenth of a second behind Ursuline Chatham. The team clocked in at 54 seconds. The Senior Girls’ team of Munro, Elliot, Rachael Brand and Ella McCallum placed second in the 4x100m with a time of 53.20.

And Chatham claimed a newly-sanctioned event – the 4x400m Mixed relay – over LCCVI in a photo finish. The Lancer team of Chapman, Baron, Grant and Munro finishing 0.15 seconds behind the team from Chatham.

Rhys Marriott placed second in the Novice Boys 400m with a time of 57.83.

Liam Hackett took second in the 300m Novice Hurdles and LCCVI’s Will Ryan took second in the 100m hurdles.

Colin Tweedy and Calvin Van Stempvoort were two and three for the Lancers in Novice High Jump.

Johah Wagner was second in the Novice triple jump, just 15 cm behind the winner and third in the Long Jump.

Jayden Davis-Lumley placed second in the Senior Boys Javelin with a throw of 46.22m.

Camlachie’s Keala Pickard of St. Pat’s cleaned up in the long distance running events. Pickard won the 800m run in the Junior division with a time of 2:18.68, in the 1500m event with a time of 4:51 and the 3000m run with a time of 10:44.51.

Arlee Roder of North Lambton in Forest had a big day, winning the Novice Girls 400m dash in a 1.03.58 and the 800m run in a time of 2:31.45. Roder also placed second in the 1500m event with a time of 5:33.70.

Arie Roelands was another Eagle on the podium with a win in the Junior Boys’ High Jump. He cleared 1.68m and also will represent Lambton-Kent at SWOSSAA for the Junior Pole Vault.

St. Pat’s Rachel Burns of Enniskillen placed first in Senior shot pub with a throw of 10.74m and third in discus.

Lambton-Kent’s Cindell Thompson took second in the Junior Girls’ Triple Jump with a leap of 9.88m and placed third in the 80m Junior Hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles.

The Cards Juliet Osborne and Julia Pegg placed second and fourth respectively in the Senior Girls’ Triple Jump, and Pegg placed third in Senior long jump with a leap of 5:37m. Osborne was also third in the 100m with a time of 13.45 and third in the 400m hurdles.

Anthony Hopkins placed second in the Novice Discus and fourth in the Shot Put for the Cardinals.

Kinser Rivest placed third in the Senior Long Jump.

And the Card’s 4x100m Senior Boys relay team was third in that event behind Ursuline Chatham and Sarnia Northern.
