Brooke-Alvinston Fire Chief Steve Knight says $650,000 in damage was done in a house fire on Petrolia Line.
Around 10:30 pm Saturday, firefighters were called to Petrolia Line between Suitorville and Little Ireland Road for a fire in an older brick home. Bystanders saw flames shooting above the trees in the front lawn.
Knight says the family was out of the house by the time firefighters from Brooke, Watford, Warwick and Petrolia arrived.
“The two-storey brick farmhouse had fire showing from the second floor windows on arrival and was quickly knocked down. The fire had advanced into the attic space and was difficult to access due to fire damage,” said the chief in an email.
Firefighters were at the scene until 7 Sunday morning. No one was injured and, so far, the cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined.
