They may not be able to win the $3.4 million grand prize but Petrolia’s feral cats will also be big winners from the Catch the Ace Lottery at the Sarnia Legion.

The Legion has hosted the popular event for the last 42 weeks, with ticket revenues being used for the upkeep of the Legion and shared with community organizations, such as the Petrolia Legion last year.

This year, the organizers have also challenged the people coming to buy tickets to support other charities.

Both The Inn of the Good Shepherd and St. Vincent de Paul had their food bank shelves restocked because of the generosity of the patrons.

Thursday, it’s the animals turn. The Legion is urging patrons to bring items for the Sarnia and District Humane Society and the Petrolia Feral Caregivers.

The organizations are looking for dry and canned kitten and cat food, powdered kitten formula, dray and canned puppy and dog food, treats, toys and leashes and collars.

Online, the Petrolia Feral Caregivers were excited by the prospects. “The beauty of all of this – we will be able to share with other community rescues as well, so that as many fur babies in need have full tummies and full hearts” officials said.
Tickets for Catch the Ace go on sale at 12:30 pm.
