Jake Noble of the Petrolia Raiders, above, had the first official hit in the town’s new batting cage at Morrison Field.
The facility and three new sets of bleachers, which were funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, were dedicated to the Druiett family.
Jack Druiett was the long-time caretaker of the field at Morrison Field and loved to help young children discover baseball. Over the years he later with the help of his son, Dale, who now tends the diamond for the town, ran instructional programs for kids at Greenwood Park. About 75 would attend each year.

In dedicating the new equipment Mayor Brad Loosely said the Druiett family name is “deeply woven into the history of Petrolia baseball.”
