Former Sting star Kyrou heading to Washington Capitals

July 6, 2026

Barry Wright/The Independent

Jordan Kyrou is heading to the capital — the American capital that is.

The former Sting was dealt by the St. Louis Blues to the Washington Capitals in exchange for former London Knight Connor McMichael, a Swedish prospect and a first round draft choice late last week.

Kyrou has scored 179 goals and 391 points in 516 regular season and playoff games with the Blues since they made him an early second-round pick in 2016.

He played four seasons with the Sting including finishing third in league scoring during the 2017-18 campaign with 39 goals and 109 points in 56 games.

The deal reunites Kyrou with former Sting teammate Jakob Chychrun.

Meantime, another former Sting Connor Murphy has signed a new five-year deal with the Edmonton Oiler worth $20.5 million.

Murphy was acquired by Edmonton from Chicago at the NHL trade deadline in March.
