Just days after the federal government announced it would give Petrolia $7.1 million to upgrade its waste water treatment plant, the province has done the same.

Petrolia’s aging plant needs a $21 million upgrade and officials had been lobbying hard to get federal and provincial funding for the project.

The province announced it’s one-third share of the project Aug. 3.

The remaining $7 million is being raised through Petrolia’s water rates.
