The Alvinston Killer Bees has improved to 5-0 on the Northern Premier Hockey League season but it was far from easy.

Trailing 4-1 in the second period, the Bees scored four straight goals to take a 5-4 advantage into the final minute of regulation time Saturday in Stratford. But, the Irish scored with an extra attacker with 20 seconds left to force a fourth period.

Brandon Couto scored in the extra frame to send the Bees home with the two points.

Ethan Lamoureux had two goals and an assist for the Bees and was chosen the first star of the contest. Sheldon Thompson, Harlan Orr and Jacob Chantler also scored for Alvinston. Brennan Feasey and James McEwan had three and two assists respectively. Kaden Fulcher made 27 saves to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Bees return to home ice Saturday against the Woodstock Lakers. Game time is 6:45.

Meantime, the league has chosen Alvinston as the host site for the Metropolitan Division all-star game and skills competition in the New Year.

The contest will be played on Jan. 10 at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Complex. The team says additional information will be released in the coming weeks.
