Special music on the way for Santa
November 24, 2013
Santa is warming up his sled to head to Petrolia and there will be some special music to give him an island welcom.
Petrolia welcomes Santa Claus with an “Island” themed parade Dec. 7 at 2 pm.
The Town of Petrolia Community Services Department says “The Golden Harps Steel Orchestra” will be bringing as many as 15 members to treat parade-goers to calypso music along the parade route.
The London-based band plays a wide variety of music, including island, Soca, calypso, Latin, adult contemporary, pop and reggae and Christmas.
Many local favourites have signed up to take part in this year’s Santa Claus parade. Dave Menzies, Director of Community Services for the Town of Petrolia is looking forward to this year’s entries, citing that he hopes “people have fun with this theme” and is “looking forward to the different islands represented”.
The annual parade will start at LCCVI and will travel through the downtown with Santa ending his trip at The Oil Heritage District Community Centre when children can meet him to share their Christmas wishes, and take home a small treat courtesy of The Lambton Central Optimist Club.
