Drink up: Boil Water Advisory lifted in Petrolia, Enniskillen, Oil Springs and Dawn Euphemia.

October 17, 2014

Lambton Public Health has just lifted the Boil Water Advisory in Petrolia. The following is the full text of their news release

The Boil Water Advisory issued on October 15, 2014 by Lambton Public Health for the Town of Petrolia, Dawn-Euphemia, Oil Springs, and Enniskillen water distribution system has now been lifted.

Required re-samples taken from the municipal water supply have come back clear and normal use of the drinking water may resume.

Lambton Public Health reminds residents they should flush their water for at least 60 seconds before using. If you have used your water to flush toilets or take showers and baths, this step is not required.  Also consider these recommendations:

  • Flush all garden hoses by running water for 1 minute;
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle;
  • Drain and refill hot water tanks that are set below 45◦C (normal setting is 60◦C);
  • Replace water filters used to filter untreated water.

Lambton Public Health extends its thanks to the affected citizens for their patience and understanding as the situation was dealt with.
