The Progress Building at the Wyoming Fairgrounds will be glowing Oct. 24 with Fiery Faces.

For the past eight years, Cheryl Veary has organized the event where carved pumpkins are lit up to raise money for local charities.

“In the past we’ve managed to get up to 350 pumpkins carved and lit but I’d really like to hit 500 this year,” says Veary in a news release.

Veary is inviting the public to come out Friday Oct. 24 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and bring a pumpkin to carve, then add to the display.

On Saturday, there will be a family event at DeGroot’s Nursery in Sarnia to carve the pumpkins.

There will also be a Gunk Dunk. “We will a vat full of cold water, put the pumpkin guts in it as the pumpkins are carved…and then we raise money and I get to go for a swim,” says Veary.

The pumpkins will be lit in the evenings of Oct. 25, 26, 29, 30 and 31. All the money raised through donations at the event will go to the Wyoming Public Schools Snack Attack Program. For more details visit www.fieryfaces.com.
