Forest Kiwanis hope a mandarin, apple and cucumber can raise some cash for Kineto

Brooke-Alvinston employees are getting a 1.5 per cent wage increase this year.
Municipal council recently approved the increase.
Brooke-Alvinston spends $972,000 on wages each year and generally gives its employees increases around the rate of inflation.
In 2014, staff received a 1.25 per cent increase and 2.5 per cent in 2015. This year municipalities in the area have been awarding contracts with increases under two per cent including 1.5 per cent in Enniskillen and in Warwick’s employees won’t be getting an increase this year as part of a multi year contract.
“I guess you have to go with inflation,” says Deputy Mayor Jim Hayter who suggested the 1.5 per cent increase.
But Councillor Frank Nemcek didn’t agree.
“Times are pretty tough in this municipality,” he says. “We should go in the middle.
Everyone has to hunker down a little…otherwise we have to keep going back to the people.”
But council disagreed and passed the 1.5 per cent increase.
