Warwick residents worried about biosolids storage
May 4, 2018
Warwick Township is working with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change after complaints about a storage area for biosolids near Highway 402.
Lasalle Agri Products has a storage facility at Nauvoo Rd. near the 402 which contains farm fertilizer derived from human waste.
Recently, residents have voiced concern about the growing pile of bio fertilizer.
Mayor Todd Case says the site has the ministry’s approval, but there are very few regulations around it.
He says when the issue first came up, council expected seven or eight truckloads to be stored on the land near the 402.
“There is probably 1,000 truckloads there now,” he tells The Independent. For more on this story, pick up your copy of The Independent at a store near you.
