Greenhill Gardens closed; upkeep of six-acre garden ‘challenging’

Layoffs at Waterville in Petrolia
January 11, 2019
Petrolia’s largest employer has laid off about five per cent of its staff.
In the last month, 31 people have been issued layoff notices from the auto parts plant.
The UAW represents about 500 people at Waterville and confirms the layoffs. One official says the downturn in the auto sales market – not the decision to close GM’s Oshawa plant – is behind the notices.
It’s not clear how long the layoff will be.
The plant opened in Petrolia in 1999. It makes weather stripping and sealing products for several automotive companies.
