Two arrested with break in tools in South Lambton
April 24, 2019
The OPP has arrested two men in St. Clair Township in the wake of a rash of break-ins in the region.
On Sunday, police were on Charlemont Line looking into a complaint about a suspicious vehicle with two men inside.
Police determined the pickup had been stolen from Wallaceburg a few hours earlier. Police found the two men walking along the Kimball Road. Police believe they had been in the pickup.
The OPP have charged David Bennett, 30 of Wallaceburg and Matthew Miller, 33, of Walpole Island with four counts of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of break-in instruments.
South Lambton has been plagued by break-ins recently. St. Clair Township Council has asked for a meeting with the OPP after several homes in the southern part of the township were broken into, robbed and ransacked – one while the family was dealing with the death of a loved one.
In a news release officials say the OPP is “very aware of the property crimes occurring in South Lambton and continue to rigorously pursue” them adding there are several investigations underway. Officials are expecting more charges to come in the incidents.
The OPP asks anyone who may have information about the crimes in St. Clair, Brooke-Alvinston and Warwick to call the OPP or CrimeStoppers.
