Feds promise up to $6 million for Oversized Load Corridor
August 7, 2019
The federal government is giving $6 million to make $12 million Sarnia and Lambton’s Oversized Load corridor a reality.
The county and city have been working with local industry to make a clear path for large prefabricated equipment to move to the Sarnia Harbour and on to Alberta and beyond. It’s expected to open up new markets for the industry.
“ I have been strongly advocating for the Oversized Load Corridor project since 2015…it’s important to note that we have been able to work cooperatively at all levels of government and business to see this proposal gain the federal funding required to fully proceed,” says Gladu in a news release.
“I am excited for the future job opportunities that this project will create for our local economy.”
The City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, Township of St. Clair and the Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance secured $6 million for the project. The remaining half of funding will come from the NTCF.
