March 9, 2020
A London man is facing a number of charges after a daylight arrest in downtown Petrolia.
Lambton OPP say they had a call on Cameron Road in Dawn-Euphemia Monday morning. About an hour later, another call came in about a vehicle matching the description of the Dawn-Euphemia truck. The driver was stealing gas.
Around 10, officers found the vehicle – a four-door red GMC Pickup – on Robert Street at a car wash. There was a man standing with it. When the officer tried to arrest him, he fled on foot.
The Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team were called, and officials at LCCVI were told to keep its students indoors.
Blitz – the four-legged member of the Canine Unit – tracked down a man on Centre St. near an alley across from the Tim Horton’s parking lot just after 11 am.
He was arrested and placed one of the 10 cruisers in the area.
Kenneth Lewis, 39, of London is charged with resisting a peace officer, escaping lawful custody, theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, operation of a vehicle when prohibited, and two bail violations.
Lewis is to appear in court today.
