Warwick closing community centres, arena and township offices

Warwick Township is shutting down its municipal office for a couple of days in the wake of COVID-19.

The township’s emergency planning met today and officials decided the Warwick Township office will be closed and is tentatively planned to reopen Wednesday.

The Watford arene, Centennial Hall and the Warwick Community Centre will all be closed until further notice. All ice and facility rentals are cancelled.

Officials ask residents to used the township’s online services to pay taxes and water bills or the outdoor drop box for non-cash payments.

“While this(COVID-19) is a very serious and fast spreading virus, we can slow it down,” said Mayor Jackie Rombouts in a news release. “We are doing what we feel is necessary to decrease the spread of the illness and I am confident that the people of Warwick Township will want to do everything in their power to protect our most vulnerable people.”

The township’s emergency control group will be meeting again Monday.
