Catholic board uses break to deep clean and plan next steps

March 19, 2020

St. Clair District Catholic School Board says it has been busy cleaning schools during March Break.

Schools across Ontario will be closed until April 5 as public health officials try to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Director of Education Deb Crawford, in a letter to parents says since March 14, custodians and maintenance staff have been cleaning and sanitizing all buildings. And the electronic devices have been given a thorough cleaning by computer technicians.

Crawford says the board continues to follow the Ontario government’s advice. She adds the Ministry of Education is developing a plan and resources for students to continue learning. The province has also cancelled standardized testing for this school year and has put together resources for good mental health and well being. Those documents can be found on the board’s website.

“I want to encourage you to reach out to your friends, family and colleagues. Although COVID-19 has caused many of us to isolate physically, we live in an age when we can use technology to stay connected. To say these are uncertain times almost seems an understatement; and sometimes where there is uncertainty there is also fear. But as God’s people, we will do what we always do in times of trial – turn to our faith.”
